    In Martin Hewings' ADVANCED GRAMMAR IN USE key to additional exercises 11, there is such a sentence as follows:

    I went to stay with the Watson family, who/ that were friends of my mother's.

    I doubt if we can use the relative pronoun 'that' in a non-defining relative clause. Could you help me?
