    Post Vacation/leave absence

Please help me to write the following letter. THANKS.
    Dear Sir,
I would like to take my 3 week vacation from January 7th to January 21st 2008. With my 3 week vacation may I request for an additional one week unpaid leave of absence. It will add my vacation period up to total 4 weeks until January 28, 2008. Thank you for your consideration.
    Sincerely,
    Jim

    Dear Sir,
I would like to take my 3 week vacation from January 7th to January 21st 2008. It is not clear when you want your vacation, not counting the additional week, to start and end. Do you mean the 3 weeks starting on Jan. 7th, 14th and 21st? When do you want the above 3 weeks of vacation time to start and end?
With my 3 week vacation may I request for (omit "for") an additional one week unpaid leave of absence. It will add (use 'increase', not "add") my vacation period (say 'away time', not "vacation period") up (omit "up") to total 4 weeks until January 28, 2008. Thank you for your consideration. Try again.
    Sincerely,
    Jim`

The "writing stye" is not the problem. The problem is that Jan. 7th to 28th is not 4 weeks; it is only 3 weeks.
