    letter composition

if there is a date within a sentence can you put a return before the month so the whole date goes on the next line - thus making it more apparent?

Yes, you can - but why would you need to? Can you demonstrate what you mean?

    Like this?:
Hi I would like to meet you, Mr. XAJ:KJF:LKJAF on 14
    March 2007?
    or like this?:
Hi I would like to meet you, Mr. Aa;lkdfjalkdj on
    March 14 2007?

It most likely doesn't matter for anything informal; it would probably be a matter of personal preference. But for formal writing, I would suggest something like the following:

Hi I would like to meet you Mr. :a;lkjafl; on the following date:

    March 17, 2007

    But I'm not sure.
