    Smile charitable causes/movements/activities

Wang has donated his time to many charitable causes, including serving as a Youth Ambassador for UNICEF.

Is it proper to interpret the above as the following? Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks.

Wang has devoted/dedicated his time to many charitable activities/movements, including taking on a Youth Ambassador for UNICEF.

I would not alter "serving as Youth Ambassador"; otherwise your alternatives are fine.

If you want to change that phrase, it would be better written as "taking on the role of Youth Ambassador..." than your suggestion.
