Question opinion poll and a Survey

    Hi there ,

could you please tell me the difference between the two sentences:

-He is conducting a survey about leisure habits.
-according to the latest opinoin poll, the national party is well ahead of is nearest rival.

How is a survey different from a poll?

    Thanks a lot.

Re: opinion poll and a Survey

An opinion poll = an assessment of public opinion by questioning of a representative sample.

A survey = a sampling, or partial collection, of facts, figures, or opinions taken and used to approximate or indicate what a complete collection and analysis might reveal
