[how] What does touching crap feel like?

How does it feel to be touching crap?

What [how] does it feel like touching crap?

Which one is right and commonly used in both conversation and writing?

I'm going to assume that you mean these examples in the literal sense, ie. actually touching crap/shit/poo/poop/dung/... .

I'd say that none of them are all that common in either speech or writing, except maybe among the scatologically inclined, Kutu_Suci.

For me, there's no problem as it's been around minus 20C for a good month now and the calves droppings soon are like little rocks so I usually just pitch them out of the pens with my mitts. I'm careful not to do this with the ones that are still steaming though.

These two, [note the changes I made] relate the normal/routine/habitual condition.

How does it feel to be touching crap?

This one speaks to a condition where someone is now in the process of touching crap.
