[FONT='Arial','sans-serif']For our first group assignment, we have chosen to do Point-of-Sales System. Project title is a G-Airiana Emporium. This system allows the storekeeper to track the records of item in supermarket. With this system it is easy for them to check the records of item file, all record report and monthly report.[/FONT]
[FONT='Arial','sans-serif']To develop this system, we use programming software called Turbo C or Turbo C++ language to build up as a system with interactive capabilities.[/FONT]

The data input is comes from Customer purchase order and supplier order. Storekeeper or clerk is the one who will enter the input. The major input into the system will be mostly raw data about details of the item, supplier and staff. The input of the data will be stored in database files in the system. For this system, below is the input process:-
The major files in the input are:-
1. Item file
This file contains the information of the item available in the stock.
Primary key: Item Code
2. Staff file
This file contains the information of the staff that entering the items details in order easy for the manager to track who enter the details of the item.
Primary key: Staff ID
3. Supplier file
This file contain the details of the supplier that send the purchased item into the supermarket and stated the month of purchased item arrived.
Primary key: Supplier ID
Description of processes
The system will process the details of the new item into the inventory of the stock. The process will input the details of the items into the item file. The updated file will process a lot of calculations about monthly sales and total price for the item being purchased. The shopkeeper gets all the information of the items from the supplier’s invoice.
Entering record into inventory
It is a responsibility or task of storekeeper to entered data and records all the details in the system as an everyday activity. The shopkeeper coded the data into the system, and calculates item stock in the supermarket. Calculation involved is automatically calculate the quantity and price of the item coming to the supermarket.
Total price per day = price of item * quantity
When one item had been purchased, storekeeper just needs to records the item details into the system. By now, this will give ease to cashier by just scanning the Item Code where the calculation is carried out automatically and display the price of item onto the screen.
At the end, the user can print report according to category, monthly and all items. For finding a particular record, we choose to use the primary key as unique field for searching item’s detail. (E.g. Code)
It is important to highlight ‘total price per day’ field because this value will be use to produce our monthly sales for specific desired month. Below is showing the calculation for the monthly sales:
Monthly sales = total sales per day * 30
By inserting and applying this formula, total monthly sales can be view easily, clearly and more organized method.
Search a Record
One of the basic operations in most system in real world business will be searching for particular records of item from existing files. This is an effective and fastest method of searching particular record in short time. For this system, we assume to search each item by its item’s code as a search key to retrieve its details.
Items code act as a primary key. Once the primary code is entered in given box, it will check all the items code by comparing the code entered by user and the item code that is already exist in the created record. When the code item entered match with the existing item code, it will automatically display all the information such as item’s code, name, purchased month, price, quantity and total of each item by quantity.
The viewing report which display only listed into two sections
1. Highest item for the month
- The user need to enter the month to check the highest rate of item sale for that month.
2. Lowest item for the month
- The user need to enter the month to check the lowest rate of item sale for that month.

1.[FONT='Arial','sans-serif']Report on All Records by items, the purpose is to know how many items being purchased are recorded for manager to review the status of the supermarket. [/FONT]
2. [FONT='Arial','sans-serif']Report according to section, the purpose is to know which section had a lot items being sold out and for storekeeper to check the item that need to re-order. “G-Airiana Emporium”.[/FONT]
3. [FONT='Arial','sans-serif']Report monthly according to items, the purpose is for filling it into the archival files for references and this report is important to the meeting for mentioning the status of the supermarket.[/FONT]
