    Cool mangled up = ?

    Hi,

In the following passage: "I had to go identify the body. It's pretty mangled up." (CNN today). Can the term "mangled up" be replace by "disturbing"?

    Happy New Year,

    Re: mangled up = ?

It would be a VERY disturbing sight, but that's not what 'mangled' means. Apparently the person has been in an accident or battle:
mangle: severely mutilate, disfigure, or damage by cutting, tearing, or crushing
