    "I've found people who started in the cracks"
    "And then fell through"

    and another.. what's to grab the sidewalk?

    People in the cracks (of the sidewalk or pavement) have fallen as low as they can go. They are the poorest and most vulnerable members of society.
    If they then fall through the cracks they've become even more hopeless cases.

    What is the context for 'to grab the sidewalk'? I am not familiar with that expression.

    I've registered now.

    Maybe I got it wrong . I think I've listened something like that in the movie "Gone Baby Gone".

    maybe guide the sidewalk.. I don't know it sounds like that.
