A 'whisker' is a single facial hair. A 'beard' consists of many whiskers.

A 'whisker' is what every young boy dreams of having. A 'beard' is what every man has at least once in his life.

Do you have whiskers, belly_ttt? Or do you have a beard?

    Cheers,

George Carlin once pointed out that "whiskers" has a more friendly, folksy sound to it, while "beard" sounds severe and intimidating. Gabby Hayes had whiskers; Lenin had a beard.
