    What tense?

    Hi,
Could somebody help me with this question."They were kept there all night".Would this be simple past or present perfect?
    Many Thanks Danny.

It is in simple past but also passive form or "past passive", which is why you have two verbs (They were kept there by somebody all night). Present perfect includes "has/have", neither of which you have here!
