    Smile Got to be

    Hi,

I had a chance to read a joke (Link is below). Though I got the meaning and enjoyed .

    Optimism vs. Pessimism - ** JOKES!! ** - tribe.net

But i couldn't grab the sentence "There's got to be a pony in here somewhere!", especially i couldn't get the use of "got to be" in this sentence....

Please help me out! and explain that in what capacity/position the word "got" or "got to" has been used here.

    Awaiting Reply,

    Regards,
    Ahmed.

As there is an enormous pile of horse dung, there must be a horse somewhere that produced it.

"got to be" = has to be/must be

Got is a much overused word. It can usually be replaced!
