JONAH: "Dad, could you close the door?"
JESSICA: "H and G. (Sam looks back) Hi and goodbye."
Sam closes the door to Jonah's room. Hold on Sam.
SAM: (to himself) "Get a life."
What does it mean? Thanks!

I think "Get a life' basically means "You're boring. Stop bothering me."

A lover of Sleepless in Seattle I see.
That scene in the film finds listening to music and JONAH saying:
Dad, this is amazing. If you play
this backwards, it says "Paul is
dead."
That statement is a little Geeky. Sam is being mildy sarcastic as he feels Jonah may come to no good. "Get A life" means you disagree with another persons lifestyle or way of finding enjoyment.
I think it could equally be used to infer that someone has too much time on their hands if they are worrying about a particular thing, ie (shouting) "You've nothing better to do than come in here and ... ... Oh, get a life will you!"
I'm not a teacher, so please consider any advice I give in that context.
