    Post rain/shower

When I listen to the weather forecast sometimes they say 60% chance of showers and sometimes they say 60% chance of rain. If there any meaning difference between shower and rain here?

    THANK YOU.

    Re: rain/shower

Showers generally means relatively short precipitations of rain.

Rain would probably be a precipitation over a number of hours.

A shower is a rainfall of short duration, but you can have repeated showers.
