    Does this exprssion correct?

    Dear Sir,
' I had been a introverted boy when I was a teenager." Does this sentence grammartially correct? what's the proper and more native way to express: I was introverted in all my teenager?
    Best regards

    Hi Vincent,
You are almost correct. Notice your last sentence. " I was introverted in all my teenager." Just make a small change. I was introverted in my teenage years.

    Re: Is this expression correct?

    Thank you very much.
does ' I had been a introverted boy when I was a teenager' sound awkward?
and how about " I had been an introverted boy when I became a freshman in this college."
    does this make sense?
    please.

    Re: Is this expression correct?

    Hi Vincent,
" I had been a introverted boy when I was a teenager" is very awkward. Boy and teenager are different terms. Past perfect should be simple past "was" "a" should be "an" because the sound immediately following is a vowel sound. A better sentence may be : I was an introverted teenager. For many of the same reasons, you could shorten the second sentence to : I was an introverted college freshman.
I am Australian and old (61) so I only have a vague idea of a "freshman" at college but I imagine it is the first year at high school.
