Smile Assigning responsibilities helped the team work more efficiently.

Assigning responsibilities helped the team work more efficiently.
Alloting duties helped the team work more efficiently.

I doubt if the second would sound as good as the first. Your advice? Thanks.

I would definitely say that "assigning" sounds better.

    Thanks, jamiep.

To make sure, does "assigning duties" do the trick in the base sentence?

As an afterthought, I would talk about an "allotted time" or "allotted desk" as examples.

Allotted desk >> a specific desk is indicated for the person.

I am not clear as to what this has to do with making people work efficiently by allotting tasks to them.
