    Wink does it exist?

    I read the word "shortcircuit"in a reading and the meaning was explained as "to avoid sth".but there is no such a meaning in dictionary.could you explain it to me?

    Try a search on "short-circuit". It usually is hyphenated.

    The phrase comes from electrical processes, where a faulty electrical connection causes the current to flow in the wrong direction, often stopping the power supply.

    It is used figuratively to mean "cut a process short" = His plan to build a skyscraper was short-circuited by the earthquake.
