    swipe

this gift card would be convenient because of magnetic strip allowing swiping at cash point.

what does "swipe" mean in the sentence?
and the cash point is the cash machine?

Cash point is the place where you check out and pay for your purchases. To "swipe" the card means to place it in the card reading machine and slide it through the slot quickly so that the machine "reads" the magnetic strip on the back of your card.
