    the ways to use "AS"

    ...
I recommend that you use the programming language(s) that you intend to use for the rest of the semester, as later assignments will build on code from earlier ones.
    ....

Hi. Above sentence is used in one of my homework assignment. My questions is about "AS". I've been understanding the term, "AS" like two actions happened at the same period. e.x, "He gets more attractive as he gets older". However, above "AS" does not seem to quite fit. Please help me to understand the usage of "AS" in above context.

    Thanks in advance.

I didn't get the job, as the other candidate has much more experience than I have.
