    confused words

    Hello
i need help. Is there any difference between in the beginning and at the beginning ? Can you give me some examples to make it clear? Can at first be the synonym of one the two words mentioned before? I consulted various dictionaries but each gives different and contradictory explanations. I am getting lost.
    thank you.
