"to call" vs "to press the button"

    hi,

how do we say in English when we want to make the elevator to come to the floor where we are?

    do we "call" the elevator?

do we "press the button" for the elevator?

what is the most popular and common usage?

    thanks,
    JC

The most common way would be to say that we press the button for the elevator.
