    By the way

Could you please help me make this sentence better.

    * By the way, is it true that your friend, Leslie, is getting hitched this October?

You don't need the commas before and after "Leslie"; otherwise, the sentence is fine.

Is this kind of sentence, common usage?

    How about:

By the way, did you know that your friend Leslie is getting hitched by June?

If you mean your first sentence, it is a good sentence and certainly can be used.

I think the above sentence, with "is getting hitched" and "by", is quite awkward, and I wouldn't say that.
I would say '.....friend Leslie will be married by June.'

    I. Can I change " did you know" to "do you know" here?
II. If yes, any difference between them in this case?
    Please.

Yes you can change it; no there's no difference. However, you can't really say 'by' June unless it was Leslie's express wish to nail his bride to a date prior to June.

    Re: By the way

    hi,

    I have a doubt!

if we replace "June" by "May" (or "April", if you will), don't you think the sentence get dubious?

"May" and "April" can also be names of real people, right?

would it be correct to interpret the sentence as "Leslie is getting hooked by his girlfriend whose name is May/April"?

    thanks,
    JC
