    he treated me to.....

    The following sentence in bold is confusing. Could you explain more easily?

    Bob Galvin, a former chairman of Motorola, tells the story of being asked if his father, Paul, who founded the company, had done any one thing to motivate him. "Oh yes," he said, "he treated me to the most demanding discipline. He trusted me."
    Think about that. Is there anything that instills a deeper sense of personal ownership than trust? As Galvin went on to say: "If you know that I trust you, you don't care let me down."

    In the above, does "the most demanding discipline" refer to "trust"?

    Yes, it means exactly that. It's explained in the last sentence (except that where you have typed 'care' it should be 'dare'.

    I trust you, I really trust you to acknowledge my reply. If you accept that, I have treated you with the most demanding discipline: trust. Will you dare to ignore me?
