    What's the difference between these sentences

    I do accept credit card ...

    and

    I accept credit card ...

    The meanings are the same. The do adds emphasis like you would use when answering a question.

    "Do you accept credit cards?"

    possible answers:

    "Yes, I do."
    "Yes, I accept credit cards."
    "Yes, I do accept credit cards."

    Let us assume that I accept credit cards and that one day I told you of a problem. You want to solve this problem and suggest:

    "Why don't you accept credit cards?"

    My answer should be:

    "I do accept credit cards."

    do= emphasis, as mykwyner said above.
