    one-time destinations

    Hello everyone
    I'd like to ask what the phrase "one-time destinations" means in the following context.

    A dozen travelers were now examining their maps, calling out the names of tiny places and abandoned cities. There was a time when people lived in the Tanglelands and points beyond, but that had been years ago. Only the oldest maps bothered to show those one-time destinations.

    A derogatory term for a place so awful to visit that you only wanted to be there once.

    Umm - rather that these tine places and abandoned cities were at one time destinations but not longer are.

    There is no indication that it is derogatory, but that they have become unnecessary/supplanted by other places/have disappeared.
