    what does the expression "all bets are off" mean? please use it in sentences. thanks, God bless.

    All bets are off on whether Hillary gets the nomination.

    "All bets are off" means what we thought was going to happen, is not for sure. It comes from the idea of placing a bet or weighing the chances on something happening, a sort of gambling.

    If all bets are off, it means no one wants to even make a bet about the future. No one would even make a guess on it.
