    Past and past participle

    hi,

    I have the following sentence:
I hated myself when I mentionned to him that when I had been preparing to the trip i went to the library to study.
This sentence has 4 past tenses verbs , I used two pasts and two past perfects because I hated myself after mentinning and I went to the library after preparing to the trip. I am wondering if I should compare also between hate and mention on one hand and preparing and going on the other hand because the acts of hating and mentionning occured after preparing and studying. In short I am wondering if the sentence is correct
    Thomas

    Re: Past and past participle

    Do you mean to say:

I hated myself when I told him that I was preparing for the trip, but I really went to the library to study.
