    Talking parts or a part?

    Hi teachers!
    Which is correct?
    1. Your grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins are also a part of your family.
    2. Your grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins are also parts of your family.

    Dawood,

    No 1. sounds correct, probably because of No 2. unusual suggestion (not grammatically incorrect) that a family has 'parts'. Particularly when talking about family, loved ones. etc.

    I wouldn't use either. "Members" of the family.

    I think grammatically both are correct.
