    Talking singular or plural?

    Hi teachers!
    Which is correct?
    1. Our school helps us to grow as
    a good and effective citizen.
    2. Our school helps us to grow as good and effective citizen
    s.
    Please correct if there's any other grammatical error.

    I'd use the plural. Also, if they're primary pupils, I'd probably say 'into'.
