    compound sentence

For my homework I have put that the following sentence is a compound interrogative sentence, however would appreciate some clarification as the coordinate conjunction appears at the beginning, and has confused me a little.

The sentence that is confusing me is:
“But we used to wake up every morning to it, didn’t we?”

    Thank you for your time

    Re: compound sentence

'But' has a supra-sentencial reference here, IMO, to connect to the other speaker's previous remark.
