ask her for a second date

Melanie was disappointed when Doug didn't ask her for a second date.
... ask her out on a second date.
    ... ask her a second.

    Hi,
Do all of the above sound good and mean about the same? Thanks.

Your third example should probably read
Melanie was disappointed when Doug didn't ask her out a second time.

If this is what you meant, they all mean the same.
