    correct expressions

    Hi,

could you please tell me whether it is possible to use the highlighted expressions in the following sentences:

The input to design and development may be an impulse through MCR (unfortunately, I donīt know what MCR means)

Every member of the personnel is authorized to make proposals for improvement, which are reviewed and serve as a source of information and drives needed to control and improve individual processes and products.

These are the expressions offered by my dictionary (but I donīt know which is correct here): impetus, impulse, incitement, initiative, motion, motive, stimulus - something that triggers further action

    Thanks a lot!

    Hanka

    Re: correct expressions

I don't think impulse is right and the sentence itsef is strange but without understanding what MCR is I wouldn't like to attempt to amend it.

The second sentence is also odd. I suggest inspiration to replace drives.

    Maybe the following sentence?

Every member staff is authorized to submit suggestions for improvements, which are then reviewed and serve as the source of information and inspiration needed to control and improve individual processes and products.

    Hope that helps a little

    Re: correct expressions

Thanks a lot! I found the acronym. MCR means "Manufacturing change request". Because the output of design and development is MCO, which is "Manufacturing change order". Would it then be possible to say "The input to design and development may be a suggestion through MCR"?

    Re: correct expressions

No I don't think so. A request is not a suggestion.

    Maybe

"The input to design and development may originate from an MCR"
