Question The correct usage of worse and worst

When do you use "worse" and when do you use "worst"?

They would have wanted to know why they hadn't been told and could be forgiven for thinking the worst

    or

    the worse?

Oops, sorry! Just joined - that's my excuse!! Have just found that the same question has been asked and answered. Brilliant.
