    Exclamation Just For Kicks

    I Know what the phrase means(just for kicks) would anyone know where the phrase originated?

    Long before Cole Porter wrote "I get no kick from champagne, mere alcohol doesn't thrill me at all" (1934), in the wild, wild West there was the expression that some of the rot-gut whiskey they drank 'packed the kick of a mule". "Kick" still persists in the sharp stimulant effect of something, esp. alcohol, and has been broadened to a thrill of pleasurable, often reckless excitement by engaging some action that sets the adrenalin going.
    Whether it goes back further than that.......
