    Can we use THE AND AN with airoplane, elephant and other vowels?
    What is appropriate USAGE of THE in english OR how we can use THE ?
    I need explaination in depth asap. thanks

    The usage of these can be complex, but here's an easy start:

    We use 'the' when we are talking about something that has been identified so we know which one we're talking about- specific not general. 'The aeroplane I came in' can only refer to one plane- we know which plane. 'An aeroplane flew overhead.' Here, 'an' tells us the number-1. However, without more information, we cannot identify the particular plane, so we use the indefinite article.
