    make x brand

    The brand of the whisky
    The make of the car
I don't know when to use "brand" or "make". Can they ever be synonyms?

    Re: make x brand

    Hello BB,

As a general rule, a "make" is the trade name of a vehicle, while a "brand" applies to other goods and services.

    Best wishes,
