    what does IN here?

"Since releasing the video, homicide Det. Sgt. Brian Borg said he has had many calls and in now investigating new leads."

    hi,
this sentence was extracted from a today's newspaper and I wonder what's the purpose of the preposition "IN" in this context.
Could it be a typo? Could they have wanted to say "IS"?
    thanks.

I'd say that it's a typo. That's the only explanation that makes sense.
