    "To hear of" and "to hear about" are nearly synonymous - information about something has been received.

    I heard of a really good new restaurant yesterday

    I heard about a really good new restaurant yesterday

    "To hear from" means someone has told you something.

    I heard from Joey that there is a really good new restaurant in the town.
