I will do anything I can (do)for you

#1 Chinese Style: I will do anything I can do for you.
#2 American Style: I will do anything I can for you.
    Dear Teacher,

I wonder whether Sentence 1 is wrong or not. Actually, I think Sentence1 is correct while Sentence 2 is wrong. Any comments? Thank you!

I'm not a teacher, but I'd say sentence 1 is kind of redundant and sentence 2 sounds OK.

    In my view:

I will do this for you.
I will do anything I can for you.

    agree?

Thanks. I think that is an attributive clause which needs a " verb".

Both are fine, Rainbow. We just have the option of dropping the second 'do'.

Thanks. Do you think Sentence 1 is chinglish? Does Sentence 1 sound clumsy ? Do the native speakers never in the way of #1?

I found that in a thread about chinglish expressions in another BBS.

Not clumsy - it is a form that would/could be used if you want to emphasise your intention.
