    I am not a teacher. That said, writing the season names with lower case initial letters is becoming more common, even in official documents. For example:
    there have been more workplace fatalities in New Zealand during summer (Dec-Feb) followed by autumn (March May)

    A quick scan of the Google "corpus" confirms that "Summer" and 'summer" are both still used a lot.

    Almost all American style guides will tell you that the seasons are lower case.

    But I'm agog with curiosity - what does it have to do with a backhoe?
