As far as I know you get in / into a car. You get on / onto a bus, train,plane.

And the same is true for leaving them- you get off a bus, train, etc, but out of a car or taxi. The reasoning escapes me- the only logical one for on\off is a bike or horse.![]()
I was going to mention horse along with bicycle but I do not have one. If I did have a horse I would mount and dismount.
Mount= Clamber on using a stepladder.
Dismount= Fall off onto one's head.
