    part of History

"I'll be part of History as the man who opened the door...".

    Hi!
the context is a man opening a door so that two ladies can escape their captors.
    is this sentence OK?
can a native suspect it has been written by a non-native?
how would a native say that?
    thanks.

A native speaker would be more likely to say ......

"I'll go down in history as the man ............." or

"History will remember me as ............."
