    Hyphenation Rules with Numbers

When a number is used as an adjective such as in "two year old child" is it hyphenated such as two-year-old child or not? Or is it only hyphenated when it is a noun such "the two-year-old was climbing the stairs?" I await the consensus.

The usual practice is "two-year old child".
