    Question Please

    Let me know please

"I was wondering if there is a place where I can go shopping tomorrow."

In this phrase, the word "is" is right or wrong?
I think the correct word is "was"..
but my english book said "is".
because i think the sequence of tenses has to be applied..

    Re: Please

    The sentence is correct.

    The place exists now.

    Re: Please

I mean, "I was wondering if there is " and "I was wondering if there was" don't mean the same?

    Re: Please

You will hear both. Which to use will often depend on the speaker's intention.

The first - using "is" - is more immediate and positive = there surely is a place to go shopping.

The second - using "was" - is more tentative = maybe there is a place to go shopping.

Another example of how colloquial usage does not follow precise rules.
