    Exclamation topic

    Hi there,

    Is this sentence correct:

"What topic is your essay about?"

Are the words "topic" and "subject" interchangeable?

    Thanks

    Re: topic

Not quite. Any of these would do:

What is the topic of your essay?
What is your topic for this essay?
What topic is discussed in your essay?
    What is your essay about?
What is the subject of your essay?

You could use topic and subject interchangeably in this.
