    Sorry I thought you were actually looking for the words that sound the same but have different meanings.That maybe useful to some other, less advanced,students. I havn't come across the word homophones but let us know if that is correct.

    I believe that's the right word "homophones", it mimmics the term in Chinese in meaning perfectly.

    I have had to explain to people how Chinese pronounciation works and that the existing phonics in Chinese language are limited in numbers in comparison to its counterparts--the characters which are about 7,000. As a result, you would have quite a number of characters using the same pronounciation and I think that makes Chinese even harder to learn.

    Having learned the word "homophones" would make my introduction to Chinese language a lot easier...save me time in explaining it. As for words of homophones as examples.......hmm, I have to think, you mean in English right?

    Yes See what english words you can come up with, it could help other students. You have some i.e Their/There.. Saw/Sore.. So/Sew.
