    somebody and anybody

    Dear teachers,

The following two sentences are from my textbook:

    No.1
Everybody on campus except me knew that the professor had five sets of examinations, which he used in turn.
Can I use "No one" in this sentence?

    No.2
No opportunity is lost---- someone else picks up the ones you miss.
Can I use "anyone else" in this sentence?

Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Thank you in advance.

In this sentence I am the only person who did not know that the professor had 5 sets of examination papers. If you change to "No-one", then I am the only person who knows this.

    No.2

Not really - but there is not enough context to say categorically no.

someone = an unknown or unspecified person; anyone = any person or people

Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Thank you in advance.

    Re: somebody and anybody

    Dear Anglika,

Thank you very much for your explanation.
    No.1
I can change it but the meaning is different. Is that right?

    No.2
I'd better not change it. Is that right?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Thank you in advance.
