    Dear Sir,

    Please explain the difference between "a lot of" and "lots of".

    They are interchangeable. You can use both with uncountable and plural nouns.

    We had lots of / a lot of fun.

    There is a lot of / lots of work to be done.

    I bought a lot of / lots of apples.
