    Cool in delay

    Would it be correct to say "fifty years in delay" meaning something taking place fifty years after it had to occur?

    Depending on just what it is that's 'delayed' :

    50 years (too) late
    50 years in the coming

    No, 50 years too late. It had to have occurred but it hadn't till fifty years after
