    the verb ''to win''

    in english, is it grammatically correct to say, you were good enough to win me in Monopoly

    In standard English or any regional Englishes?

    I am not a teacher and can't remember all the words, but I think it can be like this:

    Someone beats someone else.
    I think 'beat' requires a fight, or something like that, a competition.

    Bella always wins the race.
    Bella wins a competition and of course, she beats every competitor.

    John earns lots of money every year.
    I think it has to be deserved, John deverves the money he earns.

    A teacher can clarify this for us.

    No, never. The correct way is to use the word 'beat' : 'you were clever enough to beat me at Monopoly'.

    How about:
    .........to win the game against me.
    .........to beat me.
